Setting Up Your E-mail in MS Outlook Express

This tutorial shows you how to set up Microsoft Outlook Express to work with your e-mail account. This tutorial focuses on setting up Microsoft Outlook Express 6, but these settings are similar in other versions of Microsoft Outlook Express. You can set up previous versions of Microsoft Outlook Express by using the settings in this tutorial. To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Microsoft Outlook Express

  1. In Microsoft Outlook Express, select Tools > Accounts.
  2. Select the "Mail" tab in the Internet Accounts window and click "Add."
  3. Enter you full name and click Next.
  4. Enter your e-mail address and click Next.
  5. On the E-mail Server Names window, enter your information as follows:
  6. My incoming mail server is a
    POP3 server
    Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server
    mail.coolexample.com, where coolexample.com is your domain name.
    Outgoing mail (SMTP) server
    Enter smtpout.secureserver.net for your outgoing mail server.

    Click Next.

  7. Enter your e-mail address for your account name and enter your password. Click Next.
  8. Click Finish.
  9. Select the mail account you just created and click "Properties."
  10. In the Properties window, select the Servers tab.
  11. At the bottom of the window, select "My server requires authentication."
  12. Select the "Advanced" tab and change the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" server port number to 80 or 3535.
  13. The following setting should be applied with caution:
    If you would like to download your messages to another machine, please activate the "Leave Messages on Server" option.
    This setting should alawys include a specification of the time they will be deleted from the mailserver.
    We recommend a maximum of five days.
    Not setting a time limit may cause emails to bounce back due to a full mailbox.
  14. Click OK.
